Course Description

This course covers the core information for Level 1 Safeguarding Children. It introduces safeguarding as a subject and covers key safeguarding topics, such as the national and local context, jargon and key terms, multi-agency working and best practice.

This training also advises how to identify the signs and symptoms of abuse and what you should do if you suspect a child is being abuse or if they disclose information.

As well as covering all these topics, it also focuses on your role and what you can do to recognise and reduce the likelihood of abuse. The final part explores how to deal with suspected and disclosed abuse at Level 1.

Why take this course?
Safeguarding children is crucially important for everyone regardless of where they work or at what level. Everyone has a responsibility when it comes to protecting children.

Level 1 training is designed to be the most accessible level of safeguarding training enabling anyone, no matter what their previous knowledge, to understand key safeguarding terms and procedures alongside the most common types of abuse learners may come across.

This training gives learners the knowledge they need to effectively and accurately report signs of abuse or if they suspect a child is being abused.

It also uses immersive real-world scenarios to help professionals apply knowledge into everyday life. These real-world scenarios and supporting case studies will enable learners to see how their training can apply to their roles.

Course Overview
It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance so they can proactively focus on keeping them safe from harm and maintain the ability to act on any concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.

This online training course gives learners a deeper, more engaging learning experience with immersive real-world scenarios to help professionals apply knowledge into everyday life. On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Apply the changes to practice made over the past three years to your work
  • Identify different levels of harm and follow the appropriate safeguarding procedures
  • Collect safeguarding children information from both a local and national context

Who should take this course?
This Level 1 course is suitable for a range of roles who need to be able to correctly report suspected signs of abuse involving vulnerable children. This might include: receptionists, administrators, caterers, transport staff, maintenance staff, volunteers and many more roles.
