Course Description

This module looks at the reasonable steps to take to be protected from infection and to help prevent the spread of infection.

Lesson Plan
The learning outcomes for this module are as follows:

  • Understand the key principles of hand hygiene and recommended method for hand washing
  • Be familiar with the main routes by which infection can enter the body
  • Understand how your own health or hygiene may pose a risk to the individuals you support or to other people at work
  • Be aware of common personal protective clothing and equipment, and procedures for how to use them
  • Understand key principles of safe handling of infected or soiled linen and clinical waste

The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Certification
On completion of this course you will be able to download a certificate.

Duration
Approximately 1 hour. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material.
