Course Description

This course aims to prevent incidents involving insulin from occurring by providing learners with the basics of safe insulin use in healthcare settings and an awareness of the common mistakes to look out for.

Between August 2003 and August 2009, the NPSA received 3,881 wrong dose incidents involving insulin and included one death and one incident of severe harm.

This course is aimed at professionals who care for individuals with diabetes and is relevant for those working in a number of different environments, including NHS and mental health trusts.

The course has been created with a number of subject matter experts, who understand the full requirements of the mandatory training intimately.
