Course Description
This module looks at food safety skills that are important to ensure that nobody gets unnecessarily ill. Also why food safety is important and how it can prevent illness, as well as what actions can be taken to ensure safe practice.
This courses will help learners ensure that every precaution is taken when handling food for those receiving care.
Food safety and hygiene is often a consideration in care homes and ultimately anywhere where people are being served food. As a result, it’s usually seen as mandatory for care staff to undergo at least basic training in this subject, to make sure that safe food is being eaten.
Lesson Plan
The learning outcomes for this module are as follows:
- Understand why food safety and hygiene is important
- Identify common food hazards
- Describe safe food handling practices when handling, preparing, storing and disposing of food.
