More about Matthew

Keeping “fit” (more of a damage limitation exercise), rugby (I used to play but now just observe), playing various musical instruments (badly) and supporting Barnsley Football Club (not pleasant most of the time).
Italy is my favourite place – but I will go anywhere which has places of historical interest to visit, and like spending my time rattling around castles and ancient monuments etc. My wife and children, however, refuse to get involved.
A long walk with my wife, watching my sons play sport, a visit to the cinema, a few cold beers in the garden on a sunny evening.
Anything really, mostly bands or artists whose name begins with the letters A-C. So, Abba, AC/DC, Arctic Monkeys, Boomtown Rats, Lilly Allen, Blondie, The Clash, Coldplay.
Not so keen on pets to be honest, although I will try to be nice to other people`s animals provided they are nice to me.

My father, who was a solicitor, was always very encouraging and gave me this advice about dealing with cases – “Just remember, there are always two sides to every story.”

I always have that in the back of my mind professionally and personally!
